With the No Nonsense Plugin, you may disable over a dozen WordPress features. A web development studio in Minneapolis created the plugin.

Features and to turn them off

One of the best features of WordPress is the hundreds of options for turning things off. There are very certainly dozens of plugins for disabling various elements, each with their own set of options. No Nonsense is no exception. It is a plugin that allows users to choose whether or not to use a number of features.

No Nonsense WordPress Plugin

Room 34, a Minneapolis-based web development and creative consulting firm, created the plugin. No Nonsense is the team’s eleventh free plugin, and it’s available in the WordPress.org plugin directory.

Options for Disabling WordPress Features

The team’s plugin piqued my interest because it includes choices for items I regularly disable on WordPress site builds, such as emoji JavaScript, individual dashboard widgets, and the toolbar. The Hello Dolly plugin can now be permanently removed, thanks to today’s update (version 1.2).

Can you disable the block editor in WordPress?

Before anyone asks — and someone always does — the plugin does not turn off the block editor. It does, however, provide the option to disable the block-based widgets editor in WordPress.

Release of No Nonsense Plugin

Room 34 launched the plugin on December 14, 2021, therefore it now has fewer than ten active installs. It also does not have a too many reviews. As one of the very first posts, I think this one will suffice. Based on my experience and a look at the code from various developers, the plugin appears to be solid.

The Newest Accecibility WordPress Plugin – No Nonsense

I checked each feature and found no flaws, therefore it gets a 5/5 for doing exactly what it says on the label. I’d like to see some additional alternatives. The “Posts” screen is one example that instantly comes to mind. Because users can disable the “Comments” area in the admin, it makes reasonable to offer a similar option for articles. Both are connected to blogging, however they are not required for all WordPress websites.

WordPress Admin Access Restrictions

One of my favorite admin-access limitations is included in No Nonsense. When logged-in users access anything other than their user profile in the dashboard for admin, it may redirect them to the homepage.

Removing the WordPress Logo

Its toolbar choices are all items I keep in my code toolkit. The plugin has options for hiding it from users who do not have editing access, removing the WordPress logo, and removing the “Howdy” phrase.

Commonly disabled WordPress features

The plugin contains settings for many regularly removed functionality, but one that I hadn’t considered was the core update email. When you manage sites for multiple family members and friends, those “your site has been updated to WordPress x.x.x” emails might get annoying. Except in the case of an error, the plugin allows you to disable those.

Deactivation plugin to end all deactivation plugins

If it hasn’t already been done, I’d want to see a deactivation plugin to stop all deactivation plugins. It would include a comprehensive list of everything that a site owner might turn off, disable, deactivate, remove, or otherwise modify on a WordPress website.

Wrapping Up

No Nonsense appears to be a decent beginning point, however there are always other things I might remove from an installation. Regardless of how well the plugin works, there’s always something else I need to get rid of, depending on the site in question. So I’m still seeking for the colossal plugin that allows me to disable anything with a single click. For the time being, I can see myself implementing this on a few sites.
